What You’ll Do

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you’ll play a leadership role in ensuring that critical systems are installed, tested, and performing to meet or exceed client requirements. You will oversee commissioning teams, manage schedules, and act as the key client-facing expert on all commissioning-related activities for electrical systems.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Execute and supervise functional performance testing, witness equipment startups, and validate control system operations.
  • Manage project schedules and resource allocation for commissioning activities.
  • Identify and document issues in the commissioning issues log; drive resolution through to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with client safety protocols and commissioning standards.
  • Manage preparation of commissioning reports and deliverables, summarizing project status, testing outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Support the development of commissioning proposals and participate in business development efforts when needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Expertise in commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems within mission-critical facilities, particularly data centers or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, backup power infrastructure, and electrical control systems.
  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams on fast-paced construction and commissioning projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to present technical information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with commissioning reports, documentation, and issue-tracking systems.
  • Willingness to work on-site at client facilities (typically between 6 AM – 4 PM) with flexibility for variable schedules as project demands dictate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience commissioning or engineering mission-critical electrical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Licensed PE or EIT in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • LEED AP or CxA (commissioning) certification is advantageous.
  • Experience working on data center projects is highly preferred.
