Members of the TechSite team attended Data Center World 2024 in Washington, D.C. earlier this year in April. After hearing several presentations, walking the floor and engaging with others in our industry, these 3 themes were most prevalent throughout the event:

AI – AI compute typically uses GPU-powered servers, which consume much more power and emit more heat than traditional CPUs. Rack densities are now regularly exceeding 20kW with more dense AI cabinets using much more. If your IT department decided to deploy AI today, is your data center ready to handle the power and cooling requirements?

Liquid cooling – AI servers produce a lot of heat and traditional air-only cooling is no longer enough. Rear door heat exchangers and direct-to-chip topologies look set to dominate data center cooling designs going forward. Are your data centers ready for this challenge?

Power – Today, a lack of transmission lines is hampering data center development in multiple regions of the country. As the US looks to decarbonize its electricity generation this problem is only expected to worsen. There were some great discussions around nuclear power and microgrids. How are you going to ensure that your data center projects get the power they need?

With the challenges and opportunities presented in these relevant topics, organizations in the data center space need a reliable partner who can provide the solutions necessary for these upcoming challenges and opportunities. TechSite is that partner!
